FieldTurf Reaches 4000 Installations with University of Nebraska Cornhuskers

FieldTurf Reaches 4000 Installations with University of Nebraska Cornhuskers

Lincoln, NE (Vocus) June 10, 2010

The University of Nebraska and FieldTurf have once again gone into the record books together as the Huskers have become FieldTurf’s 4000th installation after being the first College program to adopt the revolutionary new turf system back in 1999. The announcement was jointly made by University of Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne and FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. This historic 4000th installation represents yet another industry-first for FieldTurf.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers installed FieldTurf for the first time in the summer of 1999, becoming the first college program to use the high performance grass-like synthetic turf surface. Since then, the relationship has flourished to the tune of 9 state-of-the-art FieldTurf fields on campus leading to thousands of high schools, municipalities, professional teams and college programs following suit and making the switch to FieldTurf – not only for football, but for soccer, baseball, lacrosse, rugby and field hockey.

“From the very beginning, FieldTurf has been a great partner for us and we are pleased to represent their 4000th installation with yet another FieldTurf project on campus,” said Osborne.

“We are very pleased to be the 4000th FieldTurf installation and to be part of this historic milestone,” said University of Nebraska Associate Athletic Director John Ingram. “We have always been pleased with the exceptional level of service we have received from FieldTurf. Our players have been thrilled with our fields since we first started on FieldTurf in 1999.”

“We could not be more proud that our 4000th installation has fallen on the organization that kick started our ascension into the ranks of college and professional sports many years ago,” stated Daliere. “It is only fitting for us to reach this milestone with the University of Nebraska. The quality measures we have put in place throughout the years will ensure that the Huskers continue to receive the industry’s best products and services from FieldTurf. All of us at FieldTurf are celebrating our 4000th installation, and we’re happy that the University of Nebraska brought us to this achievement.”

‘Three Cheers for Volunteers’ – Says Former England Manager Graham Taylor OBE

‘Three Cheers for Volunteers’ – Says Former England Manager Graham Taylor OBE

Graham Taylor is a big supporter of the Football Foundation and grassroots sport

Ferndale, WA (PRWeb UK) September 9, 2009

As England prepares to take on Croatia at Wembley Wednesday night, the volunteers who dedicate their spare time to help make the grass roots of our national game happen got a big pat on the back today from a man who has managed at the top level.

Former England Manager Graham Taylor OBE and Football Foundation Chief Executive Paul Thorogood paid tribute to the mums and dads across Britain – approximately one million of them – who give up their precious evenings and weekends for nine months each season to enable their sons and daughters to play the game they love.

As coaches, makeshift drivers and kit washers they are the lifeblood of the game and without these volunteers it would not be able to survive. It is therefore essential that they are provided with the support needed to ensure the game is played in the right way, with the right ethos, and in the right conditions.

The Football Foundation is the country’s largest sports charity with an annual income of £40m provided by the Premier League, The FA and the Government. Since it was launched in 2000, the Foundation has supported 7,034 grass roots football projects worth £835m.

This investment has helped build first-class new facilities, develop junior football clubs and provide free kit and equipment, enabling parents and volunteers to get on with the business of developing the next generation of footballing enthusiasts.

Speaking on behalf of the Football Foundation, Graham Taylor said: “Supporting volunteers at the grass roots is essential. If you think about the ultimate football icon of the last ten years – David Beckham – where did he come from? Like everyone else, it was through the grass roots.

“So the £835m worth of projects that the Football Foundation has supported in the last nine years is crucial to assisting those mums and dads who give up their spare time week in, week out.

“That investment has come from the Premier league, The FA and Government, along with local match funders, and long may it continue.”

Football Foundation investment into each region since it launched in July 2000:

North West of England – supported 987 projects £138m (grant value: £47m)

North East of England    - supported 389 projects £42m (£23m)

Yorkshire – supported 653 projects £73m (£38m)

East of England    - supported 979 projects £74m (£39m)

East Midlands – supported 741 projects £85m (£45m)

West Midlands    - supported 635 projects £78m (£31m)

London    - supported 676 projects £133m (£56m)

South East – supported 973 projects worth £75m (£38m)

South West – supported 936 projects £72m (£36m)

XGrass Names Chris Cote as Vice President ? Sports Development for PerformX Field Division

XGrass Names Chris Cote as Vice President – Sports Development for PerformX Field Division

Futsal Soccer Field in Cary, North Carolina

Dalton, Georgia (PRWEB) September 30, 2011

XGrass, a full-service leading supplier of synthetic turf, is pleased to announce Chris Cote as Vice President – Sports Development for their new division PerformX Field. Chris has sported the XGrass colors for the past three years and is thrilled to tackle this new role.

Chris has been a decorated athlete in the sports world since playing lacrosse for Division III powerhouse Washington College in Chestertown, MD. Chris was a two-time All-American, and helped lead the Shoremen to two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, including a semifinal berth in 1994. His leadership on the field earned him Centennial Conference Player of the Year and the Washington College Outstanding Senior Athlete award in 1994. In 1996, he played lacrosse professionally in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL) for the Charlotte Cobras in Charlotte, NC. He continues to stay involved with the sport and coaches locally in North Carolina.

“We are aggressively hitting the sports field market and are excited to have the drive and expertise that Chris possesses to lead the team,” noted Ron Bennett, the President XGrass. “He has a broad range of knowledge in synthetic turf and installation combined with the training of a professional athlete.”

According to Chris, “I truly believe that synthetic turf is the best playing surface for many sports including lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, football and indoor training facilities. The major players in the synthetic turf field business seem to have the mindset that if we put one type of field, all sports will be serviced appropriately. We are actively searching for which surface construction is the right construction for a given sport. For example, playing lacrosse on a field designed for football will affect the amount of energy required to get that ball to bounce, which can result in a decrease in velocity. We are taking these types scenarios into consideration when working with customers that need a multi-sport field.”

“PerformX Field is exactly the direction I have been looking to grow. The chance to work with clients on athletic fields, which is such a key element to the game, is very appealing to me. The ability to do this with XGrass, a company I already consider family, makes this the ideal opportunity” states Chris.

The PerformX Field division continues to expand at a rapid pace. PerformX Field has industry-leading synthetic turf systems for fields of any shape or size – and for any sport. Standard artificial turf fields by PerformX feature inlaid permanent sport lines and custom logos and graphics, installed by a team of experts.

For more details about PerformX Field and XGrass products, visit their website at http://www.xgrass.com.

XGrass Inc. has three generations of experience in manufacturing, sales, service and installation of artificial grass. The company serves the United States and Canada with its XGrassLawn, XGrassPlay, XGrassPet, XGrassSport, and XGrassGolf brands through its distribution network and independent dealers.

Sportica and TigerTurf Americas Team Up for First ProTrophy Turf Installation in Canada at Mill Woods Sports Park

Sportica and TigerTurf Americas Team Up for First ProTrophy Turf Installation in Canada at Mill Woods Sports Park

City of Edmonton looks to host large scale soccer tournaments and events with its new FIFA 2 Star certified ProTrophy Turf at Mill Woods Sports Park

Austin, Texas, and Saint Jean Sur Richelieu, Quebec, Canada (PRWEB) August 23, 2011

Sportica, Inc. has completed Canada’s first installation of ProTrophy Turf manufactured by TigerTurf Americas for Mill Woods Sports Park in the City of Edmonton, Alberta. The new field has secured a prestigious 2 Star certification from Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

The new field opened for public use in July 2011 and already is being well received, according to Gary Chung, project coordinator for recreation facility development with the Department of Community Services at the City of Edmonton.

Sportica, an authorized dealer of TigerTurf Americas since January 2010, replaced natural grass and completed the installation of 113,750 square feet of ProTrophy Turf for the Mill Woods artifical turf sportsfield within a three-week timeframe. The 236-foot by 482-foot athletic field includes game lines for football, soccer and field hockey.

“ProTrophy Turf is manufactured at TigerTurf Americas’ facilities in Austin, Texas, with TenCate’s patented manufacturing process of monofilament turf fibers,” explained Bob Aurich, regional sales manager for TigerSports Americas, Inc.

TenCate is the leading manufacturer of synthetic turf components. TenCate’s patented manufacturing process is based on TenCate Monoslide™ XQ technology, which represents a new standard in monofilament fibers for maximum resilience and enhanced performance.

“TenCate’s XQ technology produces exceptional split resistance compared with conventional turf fibers, making it possible to create premium sports fields that are highly durable and excellent for play,” Aurich said.

Project Details

The City of Edmonton selected Sportica through a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

“For the Mill Woods project, the City of Edmonton was searching for a product that could accommodate a high volume of users while also providing a quality playing surface in all types of weather. Through our RFP process and by comparing product specifications, we determined that TigerTurf’s ProTrophy Turf was the product that would best meet our needs,” Chung said. “With Sportica, we recognized extensive experience in installing artificial turf in a range of conditions, particularly those with a climate similar to Edmonton. Sportica was responsive to our needs and was able to accommodate a last minute addition of field hockey lines to the project scope without delays to the installation schedule.”

Chung said that athletes and coaches are enjoying the benefits of consistent, safe playing surface, noting that they appreciate the feel of the artificial turf and how well the surface responds in a variety of weather conditions given that Edmonton has experienced many days of rain. Chung expects usage of the new field to exceed 2,000 hours annually as compared with 600 hours of usage with the natural grass field.

“The resilience of the new surface will allow the playing season to extend earlier in the spring and later into the fall – rain, snow or shine,” Chung commented. “The aesthetics of the ProTrophy product have been a surprising benefit: more than our other existing artificial turf fields, we have received comments on how good the new ProTrophy field looks. The dual profile fibers and multi-tone colors incorporated in the product give a more natural look to the field. I’ve even been asked by the general public how they can have this product installed at their residences!”

Christian College in Oregon will add Women?s Lacrosse to NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Sports Offerings

Christian College in Oregon will add Women’s Lacrosse to NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Sports Offerings

Newberg, OR (Vocus) August 20, 2010

Adding to a growing list of intercollegiate athletic programs, George Fox University will increase its number of sports teams to 16 with the addition of women’s lacrosse, scheduled to begin play in the spring of 2012.

“We are excited by the addition of women’s lacrosse to our slate of opportunities for student-athletes,” George Fox Director of Athletics Craig Taylor said. “Lacrosse is rapidly emerging across the country at both the high school and college levels.”

The newest team at George Fox will compete in the Northwest Conference and the NCAA Division III, as do all of the Bruins’ squads. Other NWC institutions that already have varsity women’s lacrosse teams are Linfield College, Pacific University and the University of Puget Sound. Several other conference members have club teams and could elevate them to varsity status at some point.

The Bruins will play at the new Ken and Joan Austin Sports Complex, currently under development at the corner of Villa Road and Crestview Drive in Newberg, Ore., about a mile north of the main campus. The first field under construction and set to open this fall is a combination soccer/lacrosse field with artificial turf. Phase II of the project will add the venue for Bruin football, coming in the fall of 2013.

Taylor said the search for a head coach for the women’s lacrosse program will begin immediately.

George Fox currently offers 15 intercollegiate sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, and track and field for men, and basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball for women. Men’s golf was the most recent addition to the Bruin sports scene, making its debut in the fall of 2007.

George Fox University is ranked by Forbes as the top Christian college in the Pacific Northwest and among the highest Christian colleges in the country. George Fox is the only Christian university in the Pacific Northwest classified by U.S. News & World Report as a national university. More than 3,300 students attend classes on the university’s campus in Newberg, Ore., and at teaching centers in Portland, Salem, and Redmond, Ore., and Boise, Idaho. George Fox offers bachelor’s degrees in more than 40 majors, degree-completion programs for working adults, five seminary degrees, and 12 master’s and doctoral degrees.
