North Carolina’s Ski and Snow Season Kicks Off With New Winter Zip Line, Anniversary Festivities and a Return to Oz

Raleigh, NC (Vocus) December 12, 2009

North Carolina’s ski season hits full steam this weekend as all the state’s ski and tubing attractions are open. The resorts feature several new activities and special deals. Visitors traveling to North Carolina’s High Country resorts near Boone are reminded that these areas are easily accessible through a variety of routes despite the detour on U.S. 321 between Lenoir and Blowing Rock. For more information on skiing in North Carolina, go to VisitNC.com.

This weekend, Sugar Mountain celebrates SugarFest to kick off its 40th anniversary as one of North Carolina’s premier ski resorts. Hawksnest Snow Tubing has all four parks open for snow tubing and now offers one of the only winter zip lines in the nation. This weekend only, Appalachian Ski Mountain has a “Ski and Tree” package offering a discount on a ‘choose and cut’ Christmas tree with purchase of a lift ticket. Ski Beech opens its Upper Shawneehaw run and high-speed quad lift this weekend. And the free kid’s sledding hill is open in the Town of Beech Mountain.

U.S. 321 in Caldwell County near Lenoir between Kirby Mountain Road and Waterfalls Road is expected to be closed through the weekend as construction crews remove boulders loosened during road construction. Blasting has been taking place weekly on the U.S. 321 widening project from Blowing Rock to Lenoir. Alternatives to U.S. 321 include Interstate 77 North, U.S. 421, U.S. 221 and N.C. 18 to N.C. 181 from Interstate 40. For information on current road conditions, visitors should check the North Carolina Department of Transportation Traveler Information Management System website at http://www.ncdot.gov/traffictravel or call 511, the state’s free travel information line.

North Carolina features the highest ski areas and the largest snow tubing resort in the eastern U.S. Visitors to Western North Carolina can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and a winter zip line or just sitting in a warm cozy lodge drinking hot cocoa. Here is an overview of North Carolina’s facilities open for the weekend.

Study of Synthetic Turf Shows Benefits Over Traditional Grass Lawns

Study of Synthetic Turf Shows Benefits Over Traditional Grass Lawns

Synthetic Turf can Save Families Hundreds of Dollars in Maintenance and Watering Costs

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) January 7, 2010

Recent studies have shown that trading in your traditional lawn and switching your residential or commercial landscaping to artificial turf can save you money, help the environment, and increase the value of your property. For years, commercial property developers and homeowners alike have been hesitant to pay the larger upfront cost to install artificial turf as opposed to a sprinkler system and traditional grass, but with the new study highlighting the potential savings, more will be inclined to make the switch.

Studies have shown that a home with an average sized lawn (1,000 sq ft.) and an average sized monthly watering bill dedicated to that lawn ($ 50.00) can see a savings of up to $ 600.00 per year in water bills. Not only are they saving money, but they are helping the environment as well. Not only is less water being used for the landscape maintenance, but with synthetic turf, there is no runoff of water with harmful pesticides or fertilizers into the water table. Also, aside from the savings on your water bill, the maintenance fees including mowing, fertilizing and patching up bare spots will also be a thing of the past. The average home spends around $ 60.00 a month on these maintenance costs, leading to a savings of over $ 700.00 per year.

Although artificial turf installation might seem like the more expensive option, initially, the benefits of artificial turf vastly outweigh the time, money and maintenance needed to keep a traditional grass lawn looking green all year round. After 8 years, the average family can expect to save more than $ 3,500 by installing artificial turf instead of regular grass, on a 1,000 sqft area. Furthermore, artificial turf is more durable than grass, meaning it is safe for kids and pets to play on, without having to worry about mud, grass stains, or damaged turf.

About the Company: Morningstar Turf is an artificial turf manufacturer in Phoenix, Arizona. Morningstar has provided synthetic grass solutions to a variety of residential and commercial properties, as well as schools, sports fields and public parks. For more information on how your property can benefit from installing artificial turf, please visit http://www.morningstarturf.com or call 480.266.0079.

Would artificial turf prevent football having so many leg and ankle injury’s?

Question by Liverpool 4 – 2 Arsenal: Would artificial turf prevent football having so many leg and ankle injury’s?
A football stadium as we all know, Has grass where the players play the game of football on right. But you may know or
not know, That 40% of Ankle/Leg etc injury’s are caused by the players football boot’s studs getting stuck in the grass and causing the player to fall and twist his ankle/leg and possible break or pull something. Would the game of football be better and have less injurys if they used artificial turf? Therfore the studs wouldn’t be able to stick into the grass, And im sure they wouldn’t even need studs.. They could make some new boots that fit this scenario.. Anybody agree?

I’m not sure because there are also alot of injuries that occur on turf too.

XGrass Makes a Splash at the ASLA Show in Washington, DC!

XGrass Makes a Splash at the ASLA Show in Washington, DC!

XGrass Synthetic Grass works in just about any application

Dalton, GA (Vocus) September 21, 2010

A record number of exhibitors descended upon the nations capital city for the annual American Society of Landscape Architects Show. They were thankfully met by a record number of attendees showing that America’s love of beautiful landscapes has not diminished despite tougher times. Landscape architects are always looking for new and innovative ways to design and adorn property lay outs and the ASLA Show allows manufacturers to showcase new ideas and unique solutions. XGrass Inc., a supplier of artificial grass products in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, was a first time exhibitor at this year’s show and was blown away by the interest level for using artificial grass in a broad range of applications never really considered years ago. Artificial turf is not just for athletic fields anymore. Its going mainstream.

Landscape architects, business owners, and developers are finding that artificial grass products, like XGrassLawn, are an attractive fit for just about anywhere natural grass was a standard. Developers and property owners can have a pristine new lawn in a matter of days with out the watering in and care required of sod. Its similar to installing carpet; one day you have bare plywood, the next you have beautiful carpeting. With artificial grass, one day you have a muddy barren plot, the next a plush green landscape. Immediate gratification. immediate curb appeal. “Once installed, artificial grass is permanently manicured and ready to use” comments Chris Cote, XGrass Inc. VP of Sales and ASLA Show exhibitor. “For a company developing a commercial property or a traditional neighborhood development (TND), the entire project can be landscaped quickly, and the future tenants are rewarded with a neat and attractive landscape that looks great spring, summer, winter, and fall.” As with many building materials that are now ultra low maintenance, home and business owners want the same from their landscape: great aesthetics and functionality with little or no time spent on maintenance.

Attendees inquired about all kinds of applications for artificial grass. The number one interest was roof top applications. XGrassLawn is perfect for this application because of how easily it drains thanks to its permeable Duraflow backing. Other popular inquiries were about applications for playgrounds and commercial properties. XGrassPlay has been installed on hundreds of playgrounds across the country and the interest for commercial properties continues to grow as property owners are beginning to realize the stunning aesthetics and low maintenance. Water conservation and recyclability was also on the minds of architects. Xgrass products are made with a recyclable Duraflow backing making it an excellent green choice from a materials perspective. Obviously artificial grass inherently meets the goals of water conservation because it requires no water; therefor no sprinkler systems and lower maintenance costs too. Artificial grass, along with use of native drought resistant foliage and other non-watered ground covers, will grow in popularity as fresh water for non-critical uses becomes frowned upon or restricted. XGrass looks forward to meeting the challenges and demands of the landscaping community” commented Cote, “the show was a resounding success.”

XGrass Inc. services the United States and Canada through their distribution network and independent dealers. Available brands including XGrassLawn, XGrassPlay, XGrassPet, XGrassSport, and XGrassGolf. The brand variety helps create categories that fit the unlimited applications that XGrass products can fit. Ranging from playground surfacing to putting greens to dog parks and private residences. The world is ever changing and it will require increasingly versatile product solutions to meet the needs of our society. Synthetic grass is one of those products.

Answer by GETaLIFE
Write a business plan to propose in detail, exactly what you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it. For what you describe, it had better be 50-100 pages minimum. You need to analyze the competition and differentiate what you will do, why it is better, how you will maximize profits, what your margins will be (better be over 30%) and what your growth projections are. Include spreadsheets broken down with all costs of start up and operational expenses. Break down the monthly, quarterly and annual projection for the first 5 years in three scenarios: Worst, Average, Exceptional expectations. Include separate breakdowns of the other revenue streams such as food & beverage, rentals, etc. Once completed, you’ll have a comprehensive look at the business to see if it is really worth doing AND a professional presentation to show potential investors. Based on your questions above, it looks like you have not done this before. You will NOT like it. Nobody does. But it’s essential to your success or failure. You have to know where you’re going.

Know better? Leave your own answer in the comments!
