NFL Players Say FieldTurf Is The League’s Best Artificial Surface?Again!

NFL Players Say FieldTurf Is The League’s Best Artificial Surface…Again!

FieldTurf Logo

Montreal, QC (Vocus) January 29, 2009

Tampa, Fla. — The National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) released their bi-annual ranking of NFL stadium fields during a press conference at the Super Bowl Media Center in Tampa this afternoon. Once again, the results tabbed FieldTurf as the runaway leader among all artificial turf brands. 40% of the league’s Top Ten surfaces were FieldTurf fields. In addition, four of the top five and eight of the top ten artificial turf fields in the league are FieldTurf, according to the NFLPA data. A total of 1565 active NFL players from all 32 teams completed survey forms.

Of the 31 NFL stadium fields rated by the players, FieldTurf’s Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts, was ranked as the league’s best artificial surface (fifth overall), and ahead of 14 of the league’s 18 grass surfaces. This marked the fourth consecutive survey over the past eight years that FieldTurf has rated in the top five and has rated as the best artificial surface in the NFL. In addition, FieldTurf boasted eight of the top ten artificial turf fields cited in the NFLPA survey.

In addition to the fifth overall position for the FieldTurf at Lucas Oil Stadium (first among all artificial turf fields), FieldTurf surfaces once again scored high at other stadiums as well – with Seattle’s Qwest Field ranking sixth (second among all turf fields), Atlanta’s Georgia Dome ninth (fourth among all turf fields), Detroit’s Ford Field tenth (fifth among all turf fields) and New England’s Gillette Stadium 12th (seventh among all turf fields). St. Louis’ Edward Jones Dome was 16th (eighth among turf fields), Giants Stadium was 19th (ninth among turf fields), Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium was 22nd (tenth among turf fields) and Minnesota’s Metrodome was 24th (11th among turf fields).

Dallas’ RealGrass artificial surface placed last among all artificial turf fields and third-to-last overall.

Thirty-one NFL stadium fields were ranked in the NFLPA survey as the New York Giants and New York Jets both share Giants Stadium as their home field

Overall, FieldTurf fields accounted for 40% of the NFL’s top ten fields. That feat has never previously been accomplished by any brand in the annals of artificial turf. For the last four consecutive surveys, FieldTurf has set industry records for player approval and rankings of artificial surfaces. But more important was the clear direction shown as more players had time to experience the different surfaces at NFC and AFC stadiums from coast to coast.

FieldTurf had also led the “field” in the last NFLPA rankings released in January, 2007. As more players have had the opportunity to play on FieldTurf during the past two seasons, their preference continues to be noted by the latest results and has not changed for the last decade.

“I think this reaffirms the level of excellence we have become known for in the world of football,” said FieldTurf Tarkett CEO Joe Fields. “Each season, more and more players have a chance to feel the difference when they plant, cut or run on FieldTurf’s engineered system. As a result, our ratings are consistently the highest among all artificial turf brands. We’re proud of every one of the 3000 fields we’ve put in the ground. But there’s nothing like hearing it from the NFL football players themselves. I can’t express how much we at FieldTurf Tarkett are proud of these results.”

FieldTurf was engineered to replicate the best things about natural grass, while also delivering a surface that performs consistently in all weather conditions and provides a high performance and safe surface – all with just a fraction of the maintenance required by natural grass fields. FieldTurf is the only artificial turf surface to have undergone long-term independent safety testing in order to support its safety claims.

Over the past few years, the quality and performance of FieldTurf’s patented system has resulted in 3000 installations in more than 45 countries and has made it the first choice for top stadiums around the world.

FieldTurf Tarkett, a Division of the Tarkett Group, is the largest entity in the sports surfacing industry and offers unparalleled leasing capabilities, engineering, manufacturing resources, and environmental standards. In addition to its world-renowned FieldTurf and Prestige brands of artificial turf, FieldTurf Tarkett provides an equally impressive range of sports flooring products that includes synthetic and hardwood basketball, volleyball and gymnasium flooring, squash and racquetball courts, floor protection and covering systems, and weight room flooring. Also in the range of FieldTurf Tarkett products are high performance indoor and outdoor running tracks including the Beynon track surfaces, playground surfacing, commercial and residential landscaping, and a complete range of tennis and golf surfaces. IntelliTurf Creates 100 Percent Recyclable Golf Greens and Lawn Systems and Goes Green to Help the Environment

IntelliTurf Creates 100 Percent Recyclable Golf Greens and Lawn Systems and Goes Green to Help the Environment

IntelliTurf, Inc.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 1, 2008

IntelliTurf, Inc. is the first synthetic turf company to our knowledge to make a commitment to 100% recyclable turf for our golf greens, lawn systems and play areas. Our surfaces no longer have to be a detriment to the environment.

For years our products have eliminated the need for irrigation saving untold amounts of water. Synthetic Turf maintenance compared to natural grass also greatly reduces emissions. These have been great benefits of our products. In keeping with that tradition, we now can further reduce our environmental impact by recycling the entire backyard golf green or play area.

After 10 years in business and thousands of square feet installed, what changed? The backing of the turf

Almost all synthetic turf produced today for lawns or recreation has a backing produced from urethane. After 8 to 10 years of use, the only place urethane backed turf goes is the landfill. Utilizing fibers that have been around for decades made from Olefin, IntelliTurf products do not have to find the landfill at the end of their life cycle.

The entire package: From the fibers to the adhesive and now the backing, IntelliTurf only installs golf greens and lawns that can be recycled for thousands of products from diapers to car batteries to the construction of highways. By only installing greens and lawns that can be recycled, our surfaces will make an even greater impact toward a green society.

IntelliTurf distributes it surfaces through our golf business franchises in the United States and looks to expand internationally in 2008. IntelliTurf works with qualified individuals as well as businesses to deliver the highest quality backyard putting greens, synthetic lawns, playgrounds, and other recreational landscaping.

Throughout our years in business customers, companies and colleagues have expressed interest in developing their own synthetic turf business. While installing our artificial turf for backyard putting greens or playgrounds, other contractors or neighbors on the job site would approach us about the products and the business. Now with the innovation of recyclable turf, our business is more attractive than ever. Lars Skylling who owns IntelliTurf of Southern Utah knows how desperate the west is for potable water: “The water shortages will continue to affect everyone across the west as populations grow. Helping to save water while installing a beautiful artificial lawn or backyard golf putting green that does not further negatively impact the environment is nothing short of amazing.”
