Cut Your Artificial Turf
Initially when installing your artificial turf, measure and marke the sections and roll the lawn on the base and cut each section. It is good to leave some extra length when you position and trim the lawn. You need to trim off the extra part once you have the turf positioned and ready to cut. Position the turf at one side and then unroll the lawn to the preferred length and trim. See that you roll the lawn out in the same direction every time; this will make sure the grain is exactly across each section. See that you don’t slide over the roll and roll it back in the other direction you started.
Here is the important part, when it comes to cutting the lawn around a tree’s base, one must plan well and have patience. You might need to make small general cuts to get the lawn lie flat around the tree’s trunk without any wrinkles. All at once, don’t try to take away large sections of the lawn. With the lawn in position, start making perpendicular cuts from the tree’s base to one edge of the lawn. If possible, work with an edge which has the shortest distance from the tree. Place one side of the edge over one side of the tree and work around the trunk. As you move around the trunk and from behind the turf, make slits in the lawn to make smaller pieces. This allows you to spread the lawn without wrinkles.
When your artificial turf is spread, check that it lines up exactly with the prior perpendicular to the cuts without any wrinkles or bubbles. Once you have the lawn covered around the tree’s trunk and the seams neatly lined up, you are all set to make the trimming. If you’re creating a circle like shape around the trunk, sketch the shape on the grass or you may use a chalk to do this. With trimming shears cut out from inside of the tree to your sketch on the lawn. Make use of a loop pile cutter to cut out the finishing shape. If you’re butting the lawn up to the tree’s base, use a slotted blade carpet knife to cut off the small bits. Always cut from back side/behind the lawn to ensure a neat cut and avoid accidentally cutting off the fibers.
Cutting around odd-shapes like rocks requires lot of small cuts to place the lawn properly. Make sure to plan every cut and remove as much as grass only when it is absolutely necessary. If you need to keep the lawn right up to the rock’s edge and get the lawn lay flat without any wrinkles, make as many small cuts as possible to get this. Remove excess grass and work with smaller bits. When your lawn is positioned around the rocks without any wrinkles, you can go ahead to make the final trimming. Keep removing the smaller pieces of the lawn until the final cut. Working to do the final trimming will help you to get a neat cut without any gaps. As you begin working with the finishing cuts, whenever possible try working from backside of the synthetic grass. If you are not able to cut from behind, then you may trim the lawn from the top. But you must do this precisely and slowly, trimming from above might remove too many fibers along the edges giving an uneven look.

The most benefitting point is that it comes with a decade long of guarantee for stability and durability.
As mentioned before artificial turfs come in two forms, nylon and polypropylene, both which determine the quality of the turf. Polypropylene is a cheap option out of the two, as it does not offer the same durability and smoothness that is given in nylon turfs. Artificial grass is now used not only in sports fields but also for home lawns and backyards. Polypropylene is suitable for areas where there is not much ground play, as its low quality could cause minor injuries, due to the friction between the surface and the skin. Homes with children who love to play in their lawns then the nylon turf would be a better option.
Grass turfs are manufactured by melting the materials at a high temperature, mixed with the dye that gives the green color and ultraviolet stabilizers to protect it from UV rays and finally it is stripped into thin grass like shapes. The core process is just like carpet manufacturing, where all the mixture is fed into a machine that extracts it out in the form of long strands which is then spun into ropes that are finally woven into yarns and spools. Just like carpets these turfs yarns are tufted, into a fabric and then attached with adhesive. To give it a soft feel, some manufacturers also provide a soft pad to give a cushioning affect. When all the process is done, the turfs are rolled and packed to companies for whole sale. The price is then determined by per square foot basis. To install grass turfs, the ground must be leveled and smoothed out. In case of an area where there is often rain fall, a drainage system must also be installed, since artificial turfs do not absorb water. Usually sand is raked within fibers, so that they are able to have a straight structure and do not look matted down. With the improving technology in grass turfs, it is surely taking over the natural grass, which at the same time is also rejecting the natural beauty of nature.
Turfs do not need to be maintained on a daily basis like the real grass, as they require no water, no mowing, and no maintenance at all. In fact turfs have been saving millions of gallons of water every year. They are built to resist harsh weather temperatures, may it be extreme desert heat or extreme cold. However, this is mostly incidental on football fields, but that too is now completely eradicated due to third generation turfs, which is exactly like real grass.
