Cut Your Artificial Turf

Initially when installing your artificial turf, measure and marke the sections and roll the lawn on the base and cut each section. It is good to leave some extra length when you position and trim the lawn. You need to trim off the extra part once you have the turf positioned and ready to cut. Position the turf at one side and then unroll the lawn to the preferred length and trim. See that you roll the lawn out in the same direction every time; this will make sure the grain is exactly across each section. See that you don’t slide over the roll and roll it back in the other direction you started.

Here is the important part, when it comes to cutting the lawn around a tree’s base, one must plan well and have patience. You might need to make small general cuts to get the lawn lie flat around the tree’s trunk without any wrinkles. All at once, don’t try to take away large sections of the lawn. With the lawn in position, start making perpendicular cuts from the tree’s base to one edge of the lawn. If possible, work with an edge which has the shortest distance from the tree. Place one side of the edge over one side of the tree and work around the trunk. As you move around the trunk and from behind the turf, make slits in the lawn to make smaller pieces. This allows you to spread the lawn without wrinkles.

Cut Your Artificial TurfWhen your artificial turf is spread, check that it lines up exactly with the prior perpendicular to the cuts without any wrinkles or bubbles. Once you have the lawn covered around the tree’s trunk and the seams neatly lined up, you are all set to make the trimming. If you’re creating a circle like shape around the trunk, sketch the shape on the grass or you may use a chalk to do this. With trimming shears cut out from inside of the tree to your sketch on the lawn. Make use of a loop pile cutter to cut out the finishing shape. If you’re butting the lawn up to the tree’s base, use a slotted blade carpet knife to cut off the small bits. Always cut from back side/behind the lawn to ensure a neat cut and avoid accidentally cutting off the fibers.

Cutting around odd-shapes like rocks requires lot of small cuts to place the lawn properly. Make sure to plan every cut and remove as much as grass only when it is absolutely necessary. If you need to keep the lawn right up to the rock’s edge and get the lawn lay flat without any wrinkles, make as many small cuts as possible to get this. Remove excess grass and work with smaller bits. When your lawn is positioned around the rocks without any wrinkles, you can go ahead to make the final trimming. Keep removing the smaller pieces of the lawn until the final cut. Working to do the final trimming will help you to get a neat cut without any gaps. As you begin working with the finishing cuts, whenever possible try working from backside of the synthetic grass. If you are not able to cut from behind, then you may trim the lawn from the top. But you must do this precisely and slowly, trimming from above might remove too many fibers along the edges giving an uneven look.

Atlanta Falcons Partner with FieldTurf and In Local Shoe Recycling Program to Develop ?Falcon Fill?

Atlanta Falcons Partner with FieldTurf and In Local Shoe Recycling Program to Develop ‘Falcon Fill’

Flowery Branch, GA (Vocus) November 4, 2010

In yet another industry-first for the world leader in artificial turf, FieldTurf has partnered with the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Dome to develop “FieldTurf Falcon Fill.” FieldTurf will use the shoes collected from Falcons fans to create the special infill material for a new field. Bins for rubber-sole shoe drop-offs will be located at all gates prior to Falcons home games.

“This is a unique and fun way for our fans to get involved with providing the materials for the infill for a new FieldTurf surface,” said Falcons President Rich McKay. “This is also an environmentally-friendly way for Falcons fans to dispose of their old or worn-out sneakers and running shoes. I’d like to invite our fans to participate in the ‘FieldTurf Falcon Fill.’”

“We are thrilled to be able to partner with the Atlanta Falcons in order to develop an environmentally sound infill material that is something to which all of the fans can contribute,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “We want to thank Atlanta’s fans in advance for their support of our ‘FieldTurf Falcon Fill’ initiative that allows contributors to truly become part of football history.”

The Atlanta Falcons currently play on FieldTurf, with the surface having been installed at the Dome in 2003. The team also opted to install FieldTurf in their practice facility in 2005.

Seventeen of the NFL’s 32 teams currently use FieldTurf at their stadium and/or practice complex. Beynon Sports Surfaces Launched Industry’s First Eco-Friendly Structural Spray Running Track System

Beynon Sports Surfaces Launched Industry’s First Eco-Friendly Structural Spray Running Track System

Hunt Valley, MD (Vocus) May 14, 2009

Adhering to a guiding principle of corporate environmental responsibility, Beynon Sports Surfaces has introduced Beypur 160, the athletic track industry’s first water-based structural spray coating, an achievement which marks Beynon Sports Surfaces as a clear leader in green product development.

The Beypur 160 system is a water-based structural spray containing minimal VOCs, the lowest levels of any track surface available on the market today. The system is also absent of free isocyanates, translating into vastly reduced chemical exposure to installers, citizens, and athletes. The environmentally friendly nature of the product translates into numerous benefits throughout the life of the track.

Installation benefits include a faster drying time allowing for more efficient applications, in most cases translating into multiple spray applications in a single day. A low overspray also means that less site preparation work is involved and complicated clean up work is avoided. The Beypur 160 system allows for a water wash up of installation equipment in place of powerful chemical solvents as well as reducing odors due to the absence of solvents and isocyanates.

Upon replacement of the track surface, the reduction of harmful chemicals allows for simpler disposal due to reducing hazardous waste and environmental liabilities.

“Our mission is to provide the highest quality tracks in the industry at minimal negative impact to the environment. The development of the Beypur 160 system is yet another milestone towards that ultimate goal,” said Drew Beynon, Vice President of Beynon Sports Surfaces.

The Beypur 160 surface maintains all of the benefits customers are used to expecting from a Beynon track, delivering consistent energy return throughout its life cycle, permitting safer, long-term training, optimizing performance in competition, and is supported by a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty.

Artificial Turf Dealers

Artificial turf is just simply artificial grass that has somehow taken over the need of natural green grass. From homes to corporations to sports fields, all seem to enjoy the benefits of turf as compared to grass. This has not only been proved useful for consumers, rather it has now become a source of success for people interested in becoming turf dealers. Since turfs are coming to stay for a long time, and gradually being used world wide, it has now become a very popular and successful business enterprise.

Developed companies of artificial turfs have now started programs of training people to become turf dealers and be familiarized with the business and the grass itself, because now that the product is exceeding demands, it is difficult for companies to service all the customers, so they instead look for potential dealers, who they take to be representatives of their company to ensure service to customers. To become a turf dealer, you must have a basic knowledge of turf architectures and along with that you have to have some territories available through which you could strike a deal through the company you would be affiliated with. Companies that manufacture turfs usually sell them through dealers who are trained and certified for this task. The dealers are trained to be able to conduct installation services, customer services and also the manufacturing know-how of the turfs. Some companies interact with other dealers and individual business offer high success rate, warranties, training, market support and also a website for the dealer. Youturf, Dreamturf are some of the major turf industries that provide these benefits to dealers.

artificial turf manufacturerThis is a lucrative business for those are genuinely interested or experts in turfs but do not have a breakthrough. So, the best option is to affiliate yourself to a company provided you have some territory, customers, a particular amount of investment and the kind of business structure you would want to set up along with the capital that you would need. With all these information and a through knowledge of your work, you can be eligible for being a representative of a company. Once you are affiliated with a company, it is easier for you to attract customers as you would be claiming a certified status. Individually could create a trust issue.

Now for customers who want to purchase turfs but find it hard to have it directly from a company could do it through these dealers, however you have to be careful that the dealer you select has a verified documentation of his association with the company and does not turn out to be some fake people cheating you. If you browse online for dealers, you may find hundreds of them, but you again have to be very careful by checking their authenticity and their legal status. It is better to go through a company s website and locate the dealer of that specific company, near to your place. So, you either be a customer, enjoying the benefits of artificial grass or you be an artificial grass dealer, life is green in the world of artificial turfs!

Artificial Grass Turf

A beautiful, green looking backyard or lawn is what most people love to have, though that comes at a price of  tiring days of mowing, cleaning and maintaining the look, along with handling the muddy mess that is created, if it rains. What if there could be a beautiful, lustrous garden without the cost of maintenance and without days of tiring efforts? There is a perfect object that matches to this wish and that is artificial turfs or generally known as artificial grass, made out of synthetic material such as nylon and polypropylene. The outcome is a natural looking grass carpet that requires almost “no” maintenance and no effort at all. Now that is wish come true for all landscape lovers!

artificial turf supplyArtificial grass turf is now the most preferred form of green landscaping, as it is very much beneficial in terms of maintenance expenditure and hard work. This is because the gallons of water used every day to nourish real grass are saved, since artificial grass obviously requires no watering. Along with water reduction, there is also elimination for the use of pesticides, fertilizers, soil etc. The turf is built to withstand rough sports and also harsh weather conditions. The most benefitting point is that it comes with a decade long of guarantee for stability and durability.

artificial soccer turfAs mentioned before artificial turfs come in two forms, nylon and polypropylene, both which determine the quality of the turf. Polypropylene is a cheap option out of the two, as it does not offer the same durability and smoothness that is given in nylon turfs. Artificial grass is now used not only in sports fields but also for home lawns and backyards. Polypropylene is suitable for areas where there is not much ground play, as its low quality could cause minor injuries, due to the friction between the surface and the skin. Homes with children who love to play in their lawns then the nylon turf would be a better option.

fake grass turfGrass turfs are manufactured by melting the materials at a high temperature, mixed with the dye that gives the green color and ultraviolet stabilizers to protect it from UV rays and finally it is stripped into thin grass like shapes. The core process is just like carpet manufacturing, where all the mixture is fed into a machine that extracts it out in the form of long strands which is then spun into ropes that are finally woven into yarns and spools. Just like carpets these turfs yarns are tufted, into a fabric and then attached with adhesive. To give it a soft feel, some manufacturers also provide a soft pad to give a cushioning affect. When all the process is done, the turfs are rolled and packed to companies for whole sale. The price is then determined by per square foot basis. To install grass turfs, the ground must be leveled and smoothed out. In case of an area where there is often rain fall, a drainage system must also be installed, since artificial turfs do not absorb water. Usually sand is raked within fibers, so that they are able to have a straight structure and do not look matted down. With the improving technology in grass turfs, it is surely taking over the natural grass, which at the same time is also rejecting the natural beauty of nature.

Artificial Turfs

There were days when people would be spending loads of efforts, electricity, man power, and of course water to simply maintain grass for lawns, gardens and even sports grounds. Now, in modern times, thanks to the invention of turfs, no more of back bending hard work needed to maintain grass. Turfs are actually man made, artificial grass, which actually looks exactly like the real grass, though they are made out of synthetic or plastic rubber materials. Invented by David Chaney in 1960, these turfs have grown to prove themselves to be much more convenient and cost-effective than the original grass.

artificial turf surfacesTurfs do not need to be maintained on a daily basis like the real grass, as they require no water, no mowing, and no maintenance at all. In fact turfs have been saving millions of gallons of water every year. They are built to resist harsh weather temperatures, may it be extreme desert heat or extreme cold. Initially turfs were just invented for sports grounds, however, gradually they expanded to home lawns, backyard, office floors and even indoors. Artificial turfs are also child and pet friendly. It is safe to roll on and play around, without even getting dirty. A major plus point is that if offers 8 years of durability standing up to all kinds of rough play and weather. Though there are many advantages of artificial turfs, there have also been some incidents of injuries, as the material used in these turfs are sometimes from recycled rubber tires, thus they cause a friction with the human skin, leading to abrasions and injuries. However, this is mostly incidental on football fields, but that too is now completely eradicated due to third generation turfs, which is exactly like real grass.

artificial turf installationArtificial turfs are usually purchased from professional landscape construction companies or furniture/building supply centers. The cost of artificial turfs ranges widely depending on the quality and also the size usually measure as cost per square foot, and it ranges from $6 to $9 per square foot, with additional professional installation charges. Users can browse through the varieties of artificial turfs samples given online along with their various prices. It is necessary that the user keep a through knowledge of what they actually require and the kind of budget they have. Basic knowledge of turfs are a plus point as that would help to determine the kind of quality needed.
Turfs are now being sold in wholesale form , very less cost and with quantity. These offers are available online and customers can purchase them online, simply by filling a form of requirements and personal information. They would be contacted by the company to confirm the order. There are options as to whether the customer wants to install the turf himself, keeping in mind the tools and setup needed, that could best be done by a professional. To self install the turf, guideline manuals are provided, and otherwise professional help would have additional cost, however, it would be much more satisfactory and stable.

Therefore, if there are schools, offices or even homes that want to keep a beautiful, maintenance free and low cost lawn, gardens or pool areas then the artificial turf is the best choice. But like all products, it has to be thoroughly reviewed and analyzed to generate a positive outcome.
