Wholesale Artificial Putting Green Turf

The term putting here refers to the game of golf, where the ball is rolled so that it reaches the cup. In olden days people use to trim the grass and keep it smooth for the ball to be able to roll on. Now, however, instead of real grass, there is an invention of synthetic, man made grass or turfs, and putting green here simply means, turfs resembling golf grounds. The advantages to these artificial grounds are that its easy to maintain, it resists extreme harsh weather conditions, feels and looks like real grass, and also effectively reducing water usage and electric power in the forms of land mowers etc.

Putting greens are now available in wholesale form that means quantity at a low cost that is catering to residential and commercial needs. People worldwide now prefer using putting greens that real grass, for its low budget and maintainable attributes. Wholesale putting greens can be purchased online via different websites that cater to different needs. Putting greens are now used in home lawns, gardens, backyards and even for indoor decoration. It is especially beneficial for people who are golfers as it gives them the perfect place to practice their game without having much ado.

synthetic putting greenSome manufacturers produce putting greens in two forms; Nylon and Polypropylene. Nylon greens have fibers that automatically come back to their original shape after being used. They resist becoming dull and laid. Once installed, these putting greens require no maintenance. Polypropylene on the other hand has a natural putting surface and requires sand fill. In order to have the fiber stand straight sand is filled with them. The more sand added, the faster the putting green. When the ball is rolled, it moves on the fiber tips thus ensuring a proper roll towards the cup.

synthetic putting greensWhile purchasing for putting greens, you have to decide what kind of material you would want. If you want to go for a cheap budget then the synthetic material is the choice, however synthetic material does not give that look and act that is provided by a little more expensive, engineered synthetic fiber. High quality synthetic fibers will allow home based golfers the perfect opportunity to practice their daily game, with the perfection of a real golf course. Low quality synthetic fiber may need a little sand filling from time to time and may require some maintenance. The cost a putting green is dependable upon the size that is chosen. It would range from $2 to $5 per sq.ft , along with installation charges that could range from$6 to $10 per s.ft. There are also options of either taking professional help in installation or following self to do installation guides, however, it is recommended that a new user should opt for professional help even though it is extra costs, it is best for a long term usage of probably a decade.

There are several websites, from which customers could decide the material and the size along with the various prices offered. Before making any decision, you must go through the frequently asked questions FAQs and the price schemes of all the sites in regard of their product quality and quantity.

Do you dream of having a wonderful backyard, where you could play golf, football, water splash and all the other fun sports, without having to face dirt and mess? The answer to your dream is the wondrous artificial turf grass. So, what exactly is this grass turf? Well, in simple words, its artificial grass made entirely out of synthetic components such as nylon and polypropylene. Now, you must be thinking how artificial grass can take place of something natural. The thing is, people now prefer convenience and ease rather than hardship and nature. So, the artificial turfs are the best solution to those who want a beautiful lawn without having to bend their backs in trimming grass blades or in keeping their lawn dirt free.

What makes them such a popular choice is that they do not require gallons of water to nurture them, they do not require mowing, no fear of being messed up during a rainy season and no need for pesticides. Children and pets can easily play on them without any problem of dirtying themselves. For a rainy season, these turfs are installed with drainage that would automatically draw out the water, hence they seem to be in every way more manageable and preferred over natural grass.

These artificial turfs are not only now restricted to household backyards, but have also become an integral part of the sports world, where stadiums are installed with these turfs instead of keeping natural grass. Due to this, players are now given more time to practice, sport events are being held throughout the year without any restrictions. Artificial Turf Field

Field sports need strong grass grounds that could enable players to play the game, smoothly. However, the task of maintaining such fields were tedious, requiring huge amounts of man power and other resources such as water, fertilizers , pesticides, constant renovations and a limited amount of play time was allowed for teams to practice. There would be restrictions on the number of games played per year, and the fields were constantly renovated and fixed for matches. To all these problems Artificial turf came in as the best solution to have both things; a smooth real grass like looking field allowing quality and quantity play combined with the minimal effort of maintenance and cost reduction.

wholesale artificial grassThe invention of artificial turf was first applied on sports field, but it caused some serious injuries to players, as it was a relatively new invention with a surface made from synthetic products, thus causing abrasions and injuries to players, in intensive field games. Some sports teams also banned the use of artificial turfs, later though through the passage of time, the turfs were remodeled, and was made smoother, skin friendly and exact replicates of real grass, so players could feel no difference between real grass and synthetic fibers. These fields also contained shock pads that would help the players to smooth fall and glide through. It was the best fit for games like football, hockey, baseball etc.

putting green turfArtificial turfs ensured stability and durability even under extreme weather conditions and did not show any drop in quality even if used for extreme rough games. Compared to real natural fields, this was a major boost to use them for all kinds of sports. Real grass would go muddy, soggy and incase of rain, it would be impossible to continue with the game, but artificial turfs with proper drainage system installed could still let the game continue the least affected. It was these benefits that have virtually converted all sports field from real natural grass to synthetic ones.

The cost of installing a synthetic field depends upon the type of field preparation needed and the size of field, along with a drainage system. There are three types of field preparation which are Native Soil, Sand-Based and Native Soil with Amendments. The Native Soil with Amendments seem to be the best option as it has a better drainage system and wears better. All sports field should have a proper sub surface drainage system which is important for a smooth and quality game. The reasonable amount of area needed for a field is around 90,000 sq.ft, with an estimated overall installation cost of around $ 300,000. Though this may seem like a huge amount, it actually pays off well, as the field becomes a long term investment saving thousands of dollars of maintenance costs incurred on real fields. It also increases the usage time of the field and does not require and closure for renovation. Therefore keeping in mind all these facts, it could be safely said that artificial field turfs are the best option for field games, enabling players to smoothly tackle a move!

Artificial Soccer Field

One of the revolutions in sports technology is surely non other than artificial soccer field turfs. Well, artificial soccer turfs have been around for quite some time, but no serious use has been taken up until later in the 21st century.
The reason behind this delay were the initial flaws that the first turfs had, such as hard rough layers, sloppy or matted surfaces, which would not allow for smooth movement of neither players nor the balls. As soccer is a rough game, players would often suffer serious injuries while playing as the surfaces were not skin friendly and caused joint injuries along with ailments of turf toes and turf burns. Sometimes the injuries caused were quite serious enough to have the player quit playing the game. It was also found that injuries ratios on artificial grass were more than those suffered on natural grass.

artificial soccer turfDespite these problems, clubs still did try to instill the use of artificial turfs in games and some of them even had to remove their natural to have artificial turfs installed, only to be removed and bring in natural grass again. The fields with artificial turfs only to be very unsuccessful, as often it would create havoc for players who couldn’t kick the ball, could not even get it rolling properly. People would also often complain of rubber smell and health hazards regarding the use of polypropylene and other toxins in the artificial turfs. Therefore for a long period of time artificial turfs were banned from sports complexes of England and other states.

However, in the beginning of the 21st century there was a revival of artificial soccer turfs which were then not only limited to sports stadiums but also in doors or backyard soccer grounds. This was possible only when companies took on the challenge of manufacturing turfs in such a way that they were smooth with the length of mere 2-3 inches, which were also preferred by players. They went through strict regularities, such as testing for health affects, smoothness quality, and durability and completely free from being injury prone. Only after going through all this are these artificial turfs accepted for sports.

artificial sports turfThese soccer turfs were created keeping in mind the rough weather and use that were part of the game. These turfs would withstand extreme harsh weather and players would still be able to play in winter and all year round without any restrictions on time. The best part was that there was no need of constant maintenance and no fear of damage done due to a rough game. No more of closure days for maintenance, no more wastage of water and resources for nourishment and absolutely no restrictions on number of games played per year, thus giving fans the chance to enjoy soccer as much as they want to.So for soccer a player, playing on artificial grass feels just like home!

Artificial Football Turf

Artificial turf has been in the sports field for more than 40 years now, since its invention in 1960. It has suffered rejections and banishment, but it has also made its way back to the fields. The initial turf that was used in football fields were in the 1980s, in England. However, they were banned because of the rough surface, which causes players to have carpet burns and also serious joint injuries. Many football teams later also applied the artificial turfs to their fields as, but unfortunately it showed a bad performance, as players couldn’t keep a strong hold and there was no smooth movement that was needed.

artificial turf stadiumsWhat basically happened was that these turfs though did look like grass, did not feel like grass. They were made from synthetic material such as polypropylene, which at that time in its early phase of existence was full of flaws that caused the football games severe hard times. The stadiums that placed these turfs suffered losses, as fans did not enjoy the games, where players would fall and get injuries such as turf toe or turf burns and the movement of the ball was pathetic. Players had to wear heavy clothing to prevent skin abrasions, thus preventing them from giving out a good game and forcing clubs to reinstall real grass for a long time to come.

artificial athletic turfArtificial turfs were at once preferred as they were effective in reducing maintenance cost and man power. Usually it would take millions of gallons of water per year to keep the fields nourished along with extra costs of pesticides and fertilizers. Stadiums had to be shut down on temporary basis to renovate the fields and the numbers of games played were limited. Artificial came as a solution to all these problems, as it required no water, no pesticides, no fertilizers and of course no man power. However, due to the flaws mentioned, football turfs some how lost its popularity.

However, from the 21st century things now seem much more progressive for turf manufacturers as now all artificial turfs have to go through rigorous tests of stability, flexibility and safety by UEFA and the FIFA.  Manufacturers have also invented third generation football field turf that use sand or rubber infill to give a smooth real like structure. The grass for football fields are manufactured by polypropylene with a length of 5 centimeters, greased with silicon, tufted in cloth and finally polished with latex to give stability. To keep the fibers straight it is then raked with sand infill which also helps in being shock resistant. It was only after following through these rigid rules that artificial turfs were again allowed into football stadiums. It helped the games to be played in the winter season as well, which were hardly possible before. Not only games could be played but teams could spend endless time practicing on the pitch without any worry of scheduling limits. So now football players can hit the goal home, without worry of earning themselves turf toes!!

University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium to Get FieldTurf

University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium to Get FieldTurf

Iowa City, IA (Vocus) April 2, 2009

The University of Iowa has become the seventh Big Ten university to elect to install FieldTurf at its football stadium. The decision to install FieldTurf at Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium was jointly announced by Hawkeye Director of Athletics Gary Barta and FieldTurf CEO Joe Fields. The installation of the new state-of-the-art FieldTurf will begin in June, and the turf will make its official debut on September 5 when the Hawkeyes host Northern Iowa.

FieldTurf replaces the grass that is currently in place at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa thus joins Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State and Wisconsin as Big Ten schools that will play its home games on FieldTurf, the undisputed world leader in artificial surfacing.

“We’re excited about fixing the significant drainage problems in Kinnick Stadium, and updating our field system to the first-class level representative of Hawkeye Football,” said Barta. “FieldTurf is a proven product. The company has successfully installed fields in many of the top collegiate and professional venues in the country.”

“Kinnick Stadium is one of the nation’s historical college venues, and we are proud that our product will be there,” said Fields. “Big Ten football has as much tradition and respect as any conference in America, and we are simply thrilled by the fact that FieldTurf is the dominant surface of choice in that prestigious conference. FieldTurf takes nothing for granted, and our company continues to strive to always make our product the very best that it can be.

“And it is certainly gratifying to have our efforts validated with the confidence that top football programs like Iowa continue to have in us. I know that Coach (Kirk) Ferentz and his players will appreciate the abundant values of FieldTurf when they take the field at Kinnick this fall.”

Kinnick Stadium ranks as one of the 20 largest college-owned stadiums in the nation. With a capacity of 70,585, it was named for Iowa’s 1939 Heisman Trophy winner, Nile Kinnick. Just two years ago, Kinnick Stadium underwent an $ 89 million renovation that included new locker rooms, a new scoreboard, a new press box along with the addition of private suites. Iowa is a constant on the NCAA’s list of the top 25 universities in football attendance.

More than 50 top NCAA universities currently play their home games on FieldTurf. In addition to the Big Ten schools already cited, others with FieldTurf include Nebraska, Texas, West Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Kansas State, Boston College, Missouri, Texas Tech, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Louisville. Twenty-one of the NFL’s 32 teams presently utilize FieldTurf in their stadiums and/or practice facilities. In addition, MLB’s Tampa Bay Rays, Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays have FieldTurf at their respective stadiums.

The NFL Players Association released their bi-annual ranking of NFL stadium fields during a January 29 press conference in Tampa prior to the Super Bowl. Once again, the results tabbed FieldTurf as the runaway leader among all artificial turf brands. In data gathered from polling/voting of over 1500 NFL players, 40% of the league’s Top Ten surfaces were FieldTurf fields. In addition, four of the top five and eight of the top ten artificial turf fields in the league are FieldTurf, according to that NFLPA data.

FieldTurf Tarkett, a Division of the Tarkett Group, is the largest entity in the sports and landscape surfacing industries. FieldTurf Tarkett and its global sales network offers unparalleled leasing and financing capabilities, engineering, and manufacturing resources, while leading the synthetic turf industry on setting higher environmental standards.
